World famous for its year round spring-like climate,
Cuernavaca was the holiday choice of Aztec kings long before the Spanish
conquest. Many vestiges from pre-Hispanic times remain in
Cuernavaca. The pyramid of Teopanzolco, a 14 ton engraved stone called
Chimalli, the great lizard carved in stone at the San Anton, and the Chapultepec Eagle, to name but a few. Cuernavaca is approximately 40 miles south of Mexico City but worlds
apart in pace. At approximately 5,000 feet in altitude, it is some 2,500
feet lower and thus warmer. Magnificent views of the western flank of
Popocatepetl Volcano can be seen on clear days. The Tepozteco Valley viewed from the hills surrounding Cuernavaca
offers impressive sights that inspired Dr. Atl and other Mexican painters.

La Nuestra has four tastefully decorated rooms, ideally
suited for Spanish language school immersion students preferring a Bed and Breakfast experience. Each room has a private bath and is very spacious with ample closet space, private baths, and ceiling fans. The rooms are decorated with the private art collection
of the owners and there are crafts and paintings available for sale as well.

The owners of La Nuestra understand the needs of those who prefer a Bed and Breakfast experience, rather than living with a family. Breakfast is served each morning outside under a covered terrace. The breakfast area is supplied with a microwave and small refrigerator stocked with a variety of beverages.
Since the 1960s, students of all ages have made Cuernavaca their destination for one of the multitude of Spanish language schools. These schools emphasize a total immersion study creating a cottage industry of hospitality. Hundreds of students spend one week to six months studying Spanish in a school setting during the day while living with Mexican families at night. Hundreds more, however, want the experience of studying and living in Mexico but prefer more privacy and more freedom. They are looking for a home away from home, foreign but more akin to home – a place like our guest house / bed and breakfast – La Nuestra.
The Executive Suite features a king-size bed and a cozy
sitting area to sit and plan out the day. A desk is available for writing or
studying with a comfortable office chair - and lots of space for stowing
suitcases and purchases. Beautiful framed original artwork from our private
collection adorns the walls and many locally purchased crafts make for a lovely
home away from home.
The Junior Suite features a queen size bed, seating for 2
or more, and a desk for those journal entries, postcard writing and study
times. This suite is also very spacious and has ample closet space. Decorated
in a similar fashion to the Executive Suite.
The Sunrise Room is painted in the sunny yellow of the
typical Mexican color palette. The two sofas, which create the sitting area, are covered
in the lovely shade of blue that reminds one of the skies just after the
sunrise. There is a rattan desk and orange covered bench, which
adds to the warmth of the room.
The Sunset Room is also painted in sunny yellow, but with
the deep orange bedspread and the warm dark orange curtains the room has a
sunset glow. This room has a voluptuous tan color “arm chair” to sink
into after a day of touring. A rattan desk and orange covered bench adds to the sense
of rest and sunset. The "Sunset Room" is just as cheery as the "Sunrise Room"
but with a larger bed. Ample sitting area, walk - in closet and views of garden
and pool.
